Mannequins Are Us

man·ne·quin (ˈmanÉ™kÉ™n)
noun

a styled and three-dimensional representation of the human form used in window displays, as of clothing.

synonyms: dummy, model, figure

There is something about mannequins that is generally absorbing and at the same time- haunting. Perhaps it is because they represent the human body and are supposed to reflect what anyone would look like if one would wear what they wear. Mannequins run the world of retail business. They are tools used for visual merchandising. Their task is to catch everyone’s attention and lure them into the world of consumerism…however, if you look at them really closely, mannequins could also give us a glimpse of the not so fashionable realities of life.
